Here in the U.K, we aren’t quite as blessed with the number and size of conventions that art and comic fans can enjoy over in the United States. One shining beacon is Thought Bubble. Held annually in Leeds, Yorkshire, Thought Bubble has grown exponentially over the past few years and has recently seen a surge in the number of world renowned artists from across the globe who are attending and exhibiting at the convention, including Cult Collective favourite, Jason Edmiston.
Jason was kind enough to spare us some time to have a chat with us about his great year and his attendance at this years Thought Bubble. Read on to find out what we can look forward to seeing from Jason at this years Thought Bubble.
San Diego Comic Con is in full swing and if, like me, you are sat at home swelling with jealousy, here is a choice selection of what those lucky, lucky nerds will be able to pick up this weekend.
As you would expect, Mondo are basically owning the con from a poster perspective, and with good reason. Having already released their plans for a toy line last week, which you can see at SDCC, Mondo are slowly releasing a series of awesome posters including this fantastic poster for Pans Labyrinth which Jock and Guillermo Del Toro teamed up at the Mondo booth to sign!
With San Diego Comic Con literally just days away, we are starting to slowly get an idea of some of the great con exclusive’s and general releases that will be available. One artist who is not skimping when it comes to having a fully stocked booth this coming weekend is Jason Edmiston!
This past year, Jason has been incredibly busy producing artwork for toys and prints for various galleries and shows and will be bringing them all together when he hits booth #5015 in the illustrators section this weekend. We have collected together a selection of what you could pick up from one of the nicest and most talented guys in the industry.
Is there currently an artist more prolific than Matt Ferguson? Straight off of the back of his The Usual Suspects prints for Odd City, ahead of surely what is going to be the convention of the year with Thought Bubble, Matt will now also have his fantastic Doctor Who ‘Save The Day’ countdown prints available from Bottleneck Gallery. For the past 10 days Matt has been counting down to the 50th anniversary of the longest running T.V show of all time with a new print each day featuring a different Doctor in order of appearence, from William Hartnell to Matt Smith (Which Matt is keen to point out is still work in progress).
Bottleneck Gallery will start their timed edition of each print on Friday, November 22 at 12PM EST ending Sunday, November 24th at 11:59PM EST. Each print is an 8″ x 11″ inches Giclee and will cost for $25, while a full a set, including a free 12th print to be revealed by Bottleneck on their Facebook page this weekend, will be available for $260. A perecntage of the proceeds will be donated to Home Sweet Home, an organization that helps incarcerated mothers and their children reconnect in society. Head on over to their website then to pick them up!
If you are heading to Thought Bubble, don’t forget to swing by Matt’s table in Allied London Hall to pick up one of tose sweet ‘World’s Finest’ prints that we exclusively revealed last week!
Many artists have a signature style or a series of prints that they regularly release new editions of. Most people aren’t Mike Mitchell. Well known for his ‘Just Like Us’, ‘Supers’, ‘Fat Birds’ and not forgetting his Mondo ‘Potrait’s’, when Mike arrives in the U.K for Thought Bubble this weekend, he has made sure that I will not disappoint fans of any of his different series.
Mike has added to the excitement today with a tease of a ‘Wolverine’ portrait over on his Instagram feed which was later re-tweeted by Justin Ishmael of Mondo with the caption “TB 1/2”.
It looks very likely that this will be Mike’s Mondo piece for the weekend which adds to the rumoured Olly Moss Sightseers as well as the potential of a Jock Halloween variant.
Mike also posted over at his Tumblr blog today a series of photo’s showing some of the other awesome prints he will have available as well as letting on that he will be bringing across a limited number of his older, popular ‘JLU’s’ including Adventure Time.
Mike also posted this very hand pic of where he and the rest of the Mondo squad will be located over the weekend for Thought Bubble in the Allied London Hall. Make sure you have a mosey on over to Mike’s blog to have a gander at what he will have available as well as making sure you follow him on Twitter and Facebook. For more information on drop times, it would probably be a great idea to follow Mondo too!

With less than a week to go, expectations are high for this years Thought Bubble. Artists are starting to reveal what they have in store for this weekends convention and Glasgow based artist Alan Campbell has just announced that he will have two new exclusive prints available.
Fear not though all you unlucky folk who are unable to attend, for Alan has thought ahead. There will be an online presale of half of the editions for both of these stunning pieces running this coming Tuesday until late Wednesday over at Alan’s online store. Whatever is left over Alan will have available at Thought Bubble.
The pieces are titled ‘The Great Bear Cult’ and ‘Gift Horse’ and they look gorgeous. Alan’s individual style is eye catching and certainly unique.
‘The Great Bear Cult’ is an A3 (11.69″ x 16.53″), 5 Colour screenprint with 4 metalic inks and one split fountain in an edition of 23 priced at £20 ($32).
There will also be a variant which is a rather lovely 2 colour screenprint along with hand painted ink embellishments. This is an edition of 4 and will cost £30.
The Second piece is titled ‘Gift Horse’ Gift Horse and is sized at A4 (11.7″x 8.3″), is a 2 colour screen print, both metallic, with unique printed elements on every print . This edition size will be 20 priced at £15 ($24) each.

In my hallway I have five framed Mondo posters. Four of which are by Jock. I’m sure that says something. As you may know, Jock will be attending Thought Bubble again this year and as well as potentially having a new Mondo print to release, he has also put together five great Batman letterpresses that will be available individually or as a set.
Yesterday Jock also previewed Instagram the awesome envelope that the brilliant Blush Publishing produced for the set of letterpresses to come packaged in.
The five prints feature a number of Jocks different interpretations of Batman that you may recognise from his work on the Dark Knight Trilogy as well as his Black Mirror and Detective Comics runs.
Last year Olly Moss released the brilliant Silhouettes from Popular Culture, a hardback book comprised of a selection of pieces from his Gallery 1988 Papercuts show. For a while Olly planned to do a special edition of the book and even went as far as showing me a prototype that he had at last years Thought Bubble featuring Peter Venkman of Ghostbusters on the cover.
Well it looks as if Olly has now cracked on and produced that Special Edition. Limited to 250 copies, 50 of which will be available at Thought Bubble this year, this special edition will also feature one very special, individual papercut per copy. Some of these papercuts will even be one of a kinds, much like his original show! Olly has even gone as far to use the same laser cutter as the original pieces.
Take a look at the possible papercuts that may be included that Olly posted over at Expressobeans.
Olly expects the book to cost around £60 and has not yet released information about how else the book will be made available. For more information on that, make sure you follow Olly on Twitter!
Here at Cult Collective we are very proud to announce a world exclusive! Yes, that’s right, our very first EXCLUSIVE announcement. It come’s in the form of the super talented Matt Ferguson’s ‘The World’s Finest’ screen print which was the mystery print that he previously teased that he will have available at this years Thought Bubble festival. Take a look!
Here at Cult Collective we are huge fans of Sheffield based Matt Ferguson, otherwise known as Cakes and Comics, and his previous work includes the original artwork for Marvel’s Phase One box set, pieces for Gallery 1988’s Young Guns show, Hero Complex’s Walking Dead show and plenty of other cool projects that can be found over at his website. ‘He Stole My Balloons’ was my favourite print to come out at NYCC 2013.
Matt continues his winning run with this print that was originally put together for a bit of fun when DC and Warner announced ‘Batman vs Superman’. Due to overwhelmingly popular demand, Matt decided to release the piece as a limited edition screen print, especially for Thought Bubble 2013.
This print looks great and is very clever. Capturing the yin and yang of the two in a stylistic way while simplistically demonstrating the nature of their potential relationship in the upcoming movie.
This is a one of kind 2 colour screen print and there is only 100 of them, so they will be in super high demand. Measuring 18×24 inches, Matt will also be signing and numbering each copy and at only £25, it has to be the bargain of the weekend.
Matt posted on Twitter earlier a few of the other pieces he will have available at Thought Bubble this year, including artist proof copies of the previously mentioned ‘He Stole My Balloons’. Again, this will be a very limited run of 50 and cost £40. His Transformers pieces depicting Megatron and Optimus Prime also feature some pretty snazzy metallic inks. These guys will be available for £30.
On top of that, Matt will also have a great X-men inspired print featuring Phoenix and the Blackbird jet as well as art cards and buttons for free! I have got to admit, Matt has really stepped up to the plate for Thought Bubble this year and I think you would be daft not to at least pop over to his table, number 88 in the Allied London Hall.
Be sure to check out Matt’s website www.CakesandComics.com to see all of his amazing work. Follow him on Twitter where he is currently counting down to next saturdays Dr Who special, Day of the Doctor, with an individual piece of artwork for each day featuring a different Doctor in order of appearance. You can also catch Matt on Facebook, too!
