There are many filmmakers who have produced one or two masterpieces in their careers, but it is a rare thing for them to produce consistently critically acclaimed, commercially successful and just damn exceptional movies. Quentin Tarantino and the Coen brothers are an exception to that rule.
As a celebration of their phenomenal careers, Spoke Art have brought together 60 exceptionally talented artists to interpret their favourite scenes, characters and movies from the filmmakers back catalogues for their upcoming exhibition, ‘Quentin Vs Coen’.
Recently I discovered Little White Lies. After years of reading Empire Magazine and Sight and Sound it was refreshing to pick up a movie magazine with a unique voice. A bi-monthly, independent movie magazine, Little White Lies feature cutting edge writing, illustration and photography that “get under the skin of cinema”
Expanding into the world of cinema art, Little White Lies have partnered with White Duck Screen Print to present ‘One Night Only: A Coen Brothers Gig Poster Extravaganza’, an evening of Coen Brothers inspired artwork and live music inspired by their new film, Inside Llewyn Davis.
Little White Lies have commissioned seven of their favourite artists to represent the Coen Brothers most iconic movies with limited edition, screenprinted movie posters. Hopefully including my favourites; Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy and not forgetting The Big Lebowski. You can check out all the posters over on Xombie Dirge.
Artists contributing include Dan Mumford, Telegramme, The Little Friends of Printmaking, Crispin Finn, Joe Wilson, Luke Drozd and Chris DeLorenzo who will each be producing posters strictly limited to 50 per artist and available to purchase on the night.
‘One Night Only: A Coen Brothers Gig Poster Extravaganza’ will take place at The Church of London on Thursday, 23 January 2014 from 19:00 to 22:00 (GMT) and you can buy Little White Lies from their online shop.
