Doaly Beckon’s The Age Of Ultron!

Yesterday saw the trailer for Avengers: Age Of Ultron burst online and as a result, the interweb starting screaming in excitement. Age Of Ultron certainly looks like an exciting movie and superhero fans were salivating at teases of the ‘Hulkbuster’ Iron Man armour as well as plenty of conflict between Captain America, Thor the rest of the team. Viewers were even treated to glimpses at new characters to the Marvel cinematic world, Quiksilver and Scarlet Witch as well as the reassurance that Nick Fury was still around to support. Noticeably absent was The Vision, Paul Bettany’s step up from voicing Tony Stark’s household security system to full on Avenger status seems to be under lock and key at the moment..

In honour of the darker, sinister tone of the movie, British artist Doaly has cooked up this rather tasty Avengers: Age Of Ultron poster, just for a bit of fun. Take a look!

Avengers Age of Ultron Doaly Poster

Doaly’s poster playfully riffs on the song hauntingly crooned by James Spader’s menacing Ultron throughout the trailer and features the villain standing atop a broken and beaten Avengers.

Check Out The Multi Textured Art Of Gav Bansal

Here at Cult Collective, we love it when an artist gets in touch to share their work. That is exactly what London based artist and designer Gav Bansal did.

Working from hand drawn pencil sketches, Gav layers his images up with some great filters and textures, to great effect. His Big piece reminds me of one of a picture you could create with one of those felt kits you got as a kid while his Iron Man has a graffiti aesthetic. Take a look at a few of his other pieces below!

The LGX Presents Awesome Splash Graffiti Style Fan Art

The LGX (or Kode Logic as he is otherwise known) is a man of mystery. Aside from the fact he is Australian and likes Street Fighter I do not know much about him. So the introduction to his work is going to be a tad brief. But my waffling is not really why you guys and gals are here anyway, so let’s crack on and look at some great artwork shall we?

My first exposure to LGX work was with his Iron series. Taking pop culture characters from a wide range of sources, Kode bangs on some high tech Iron Man style armour and gives us beautiful neon infused creations. There feels like an intense Tokyo feel to his work, or Manhattan at night, with a splash of 80’s colours thrown in for good measure. Colours and lights combine together with some fantastically drawn images, while your eyes are pleasantly assaulted with the sheer amount of brightness on display. Certainly Tron like elements creep up in his work as well, but it was the way his work feels like it exploded out of a spray can which really interested me. There is graffiti like qualities to these pieces, which is one of the many things that make it stand out. Below is a selection of some of my favourites from this range.

My favourite? Iron Shark, how can you not love that! As always I like to show other pieces of artwork the included artist has created, and below is a few that really caught my eye. The revamped X-Men posters are certainly stunning to look at but it was the Breaking Bad and Tron style Street Fighter characters that promoted some jaw dropping on my part that Tex Avery would have been proud of!

The crying shame is I could not find a link to buy the above prints. It could just be me and my lack of internet knowledge, but I know I need an Iron Shark poster in my life! My searches for Iron Sharks may have hit a dead end, but I did manage (on his Deviant Art page) to find some great pieces for sale which are listed below.

Mike Mitchell And Mondo Make Their’s Marvel This Friday!

Artist and epic beard owner Mike Mitchell is renowned for his fantastic ‘Portraits’ and ‘Just Like Us’ series and last year even held his own gallery show based on the series over at the Mondo Gallery in Austin. Following on from the success of that gallery and the popularity of those pieces Mondo and Mike Mitchell have again teamed up for a new gallery, this one dedicated to the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe!

Mondo Showcard

“Mike Mitchell x Marvel x Mondo” kicks off 7pm this Friday at 4115 Guadalupe St. in Austin, TX and will run from April 25 through May 17. Marvel ran a great interview with Mike and Mondo Creative Director Justin Ishmael over at their Website today. Check it out.

Most of the previews so far have centered around Mike’s ‘Portraits’ series, but today the Austin Chronicle previewed some of his excellent ‘JLU’ pieces. With over 50 pieces in total, Mike has been busy pulling all of this together and so far it looks as if he has done an amazing job!

To make the event extra special, if it wasn’t enough already, Mondo will also be hosting a cosplay contest during the opening night reception of the show (Friday, April 25th from 7PM – 10PM) with prizes being awarded to the winners. Who doesn’t love a good cosplay? Mondo have even dressed the gallery up to celebrate the occasion!

Jeffrey Veregge Creates Incredible Poster Art with Minimal Designs

The internet can be a marvellous thing. I have lost count of the amount of times some random scrolling on a lazy day has produced some amazing results. This was much the case when Cult Collective came across the work of Jeffrey Veregge, a chap who comes from the Little Boston reservation found in Washington.

Before looking at his work here is what he has to say about his designs (taken from his own website).

“This site, the work that is seen on it is a reflection of a lifetime love affair with comic books, toys, TV and film. Taking my passions and blending them with my Native perspective, artistic background and the desire to simply be me. Basically I am just trying to have fun and get back to that kid that went to art school to begin with, wanting to create artwork that I want to see and make just for the hell of it”

Below is a selection of his work which is available to buy from the above mentioned store.

Jeffrey’s use of spirals and shapes to create art including these iconic creations is superb and with very little visual effort he has managed to put together some stunning pieces. This simplistic use of images reminded me of stain glass window art, the bold shapes making your eyes piece together an image which is instantly satisfying to look at.

If you like his work then be sure to check out his website and also his blog. I will leave you with some of the artwork that is not currently for sale but still is too good to not include in this article. I especially like the almost Japanese like old school art pieces he has created.
