We Preview Bottleneck Gallery’s Exciting James White Solo Exhibition: ‘Celscapes’

This Friday Bottleneck Gallery will be opening up a gallery with one of the most exciting and original concepts I have ever see. And there have been a few. On Friday, August, 29th, Bottleneck Gallery will open James White (Signalnoise)’s solo exhibition, ‘Celscapes’.

A celebration of classic painted backgrounds that we were so used to seeing in t.v shows, for ‘Celscapes’ James White will take on both modern and classic film, t.v and cartoons. We are lucky enough to share a few pieces from the show. Read one for some truly beautiful preview pieces from the show!

Here’s what artist and designer Matt Ferguson had to say on working on his Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit inspired pieces;

“I always liked the circular nature of the adventures in the Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings stories, how by the end of the adventure everything is set right and the Hobbits go back home the way they came. So I found myself thinking about how that would make a good piece of art, the perfect summation of “There And Back Again”. Once the idea popped into my head it all seemed so simple, why not make it all one piece with the ring and then the different locations/events that happen on the outside of it all going round in circle. I then applied the same idea to the Hobbit but instead of using a ring I thought it would be cool to use a hexagon motif, as it reminded me of the angular aspect of Dwarf society, it also just so happened that I could fit some dwarf writing into that shape better as well. I really couldn’t believe no one had come up with a similar idea before! I love it when a plan comes together.”

Make sure you follow Matt on his TWITTER and FACEBOOK page for the on sale announcement which will be some time between 12 and 1pm GMT as well as to keep up to date with all his extraordinary Cakes and Comics artwork. Also, keep a look out on his ONLINE STORE where you will be able to pick these great prints up at a random time this Friday.

I have tremendously fond memories of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, to this date it is still my favourite Batman movie and remains the only Batman the Animated Series movie to get a theatrical release. The vision of Batman the Animated Series creator and director Bruce Timm and regular written by Paul Dini, Batman: Mask of The Phantasm features the voice talents of the one true Batman, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in a post Star Wars career defining turn as The Joker.

No word as of yet on how many of these posters will be available or if there will be an online drop with any left over. Follow Mondo on Twitter to keep up to date with any announcements.
For more work by the awesome Phantom City Creative, who produced the award winning Godzilla poster this year, follow them on Twitter, too!

Today Mondo will also be releasing three new posters, the much anticipated Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers regular and variant by Aaron Horkey along with a brilliantly fun Home Alone by Adam Simpson.
